The Toothfairy Goes to School

I love knowing things, and learning new things and there are new things to learn every day.  Toothfairies have to go to school if they want to continue teaching people about oral health.  So 17 months ago I decided to start school again.  This is a very special school, its called Dental Hygiene School.

At hygiene school I learn a lot about the shape of your tooth, how many teeth you have and how to keep them strong.  I also learn about your gums, did you know they protect your teeth and it is so important to keep your gums really healthy?

I learn cool new, effective ways to brush your teeth.  You should brush 2 times a day.  Once in the morning and once at night.  You should always look in the mirror while brushing, this way you can adapt the tooth brush to the curves of your teeth.  Always start with the bristles pointed towards the gums at about a 45 degree angle; very, very gently, wiggle the toothbrush back and forth.  It doesn't take a lot of pressure to clean the plaque (the potty and poop of the bacteria) off your tooth.   This also ensures your gums don't get damaged.  Get rid of those stiff toothbrushes and use the soft or extra soft.

Higley School District Visit

I had the lucky chance to visit the students in the Higley school district again this year.  They are so smart and big helpers. They even had a special photographer come and take pictures and write a little story about my visit.  You can read about it here: Higley School District

Healthy Mouths, Healthy Bodies

I can't believe it has been a year since I have seen the sweet children of Arizona.  I love this time of year!  Its time we get to remember about our oral health and the importance of keeping our mouths healthy so that we can keep our whole bodies healthy.

Did you know that many diseases and illnesses show up in the mouth before anywhere else.  That is why it is so important to visit your dentist or dental hygienist regulary; they know the signs and symptoms to look for.
